band concert

Monkey had her first band concert this month. It was kind of cool... they had the combined elementary schools play a song, then the outgoing eighth graders, then the top high school band. Then all the groups played a song together. The idea was to show the elementary kids what is coming, how in just a few years, they'll be able to play so much better. Hopefully it will help inspire Monkey to practice. She loves playing the flute, but she tends to spend her "practice" time figuring out how to play songs she likes, by ear, rather than sitting down and learning her music.

Oh, and we learned one good reason to arrive a little late for a huge concert - you get to sit right up front. (That's her in the red.)
