swimming lessons

For their birthdays this year, my mom got the kids each a session of swimming lessons.  It was a fun way to start off the summer.  They are missing it, now it's over.

Bucket had a ton of fun, he loves getting in the water.  All the swimming lessons we did a couple summers ago paid off: Bucket lost his fear of water enough to be baptised.  He's still terrified of the really deep end, but is confident every where else.  His coordination problems make swimming a challenge, but he knows enough to be safe.  It made my day to have his teacher say he was a good listener and helped the other kids pay attention.

This was Nini's first swimming lesson ever.  She did really well.  She wasn't afraid of getting in and going under.  She still sings the song they use in a game to help the kids put their faces in the water.

Monkey is a confident swimmer.  She loves deep water and jumping/diving in.  She'd spend all her time at the pool, if we'd let her.  Actually, I wish we could get her there more often.  It would be good for her.  With some work on her endurance and perfecting her technique, she'd be a great swimmer.

W loves the water... as long as his head stays out of it.  I think it's from all those years with ear tubes and always making sure no water got in.  He just hates water in his ears.  I really need to find one of those cool swimming headbands, the kind to keep water out of ears, for him.  It's hard to float well when you're tense because water is getting in...

Thanks, Grandma.  They really had fun!
