turning five

Last week, W turned five.  He woke up early, but had to wait to open presents until I got back from walking Trigger.

Bunnicula books from big sister! (yes, he can read them...)

An angry birds painting from big brother!

 And what's this?

 No way!

Mini transformers!  (yup, he was one happy boy.)

His cake was a combo of some of his favorite aspects of his siblings' cakes...  first, he wanted a layer cake like Nini, with candy around the edges, then he wanted marshmallows and toys, like Bucket.  And so... I made a short layer cake, cut up giant marshmallows to put around the edges, threw a marshmallow on top and added the toys he picked out.  He loved it.  Here it is in all its strangeness:

W has also enjoyed the hexbug set from Grandpa (he needed his own, since Bucket got one for HIS birthday, and Grandpa wisely bought W a glow-in-the-dark set so we can tell whose pieces are whose.) and his angry birds shirt and stuffed Stitch from Grandma.  He would wear the shirt every day, but I'm a mean mom, who insists it get washed when it gets dirty.

And now that W is five, he is counting down the days till kindergarten.  He can't wait to go to school.
