Lucy kept her eye!
We took her in and they clipped the stitches and things were much improved. The vet admitted that he hadn't held much hope. He'd been pretty certain the eye would need to come out. We were very thankful she healed so well. She still has cornea damage that we're trying to help heal. She gets drops twice a day, antibiotic ointment four times a day AND a nasal drop (it's a cocktail they mix up at the vet's office. It helps some herpes cats, others it doesn't. The verdict is still out on Lucy.) on top of her daily lysine. We've been a couple weeks on this treatment and it'll probably be a couple more.
And since we didn't have to spend a fortune on an eye-ectomy, our cars decided it should be their turns to be pampered.... and in last two weeks we've put $700 into the CRV and $800 into the van.
But such is life.
