mommy lecture of the day
---The lecture for today is:---
"If you really care, then do something about it. If you're not doing something about it, then you don't really care. You have no "right" to complain because your inaction shows you approve of the status quo."
The specifics had to do with typing speed, but it could just as easily apply to politics, education, employment, weight loss, the pile of dirty dishes, you name it...
I'm very tired of people complaining about [whatever] when they do not DO anything about it.
If you're not willing to do anything about the problem - you can't complain about it.
If you can't type fast enough to get your thoughts down. Work at it. Practice. Don't complain. And don't expect someone else to do it for you.
If you don't like something about the government. Get involved. Vote. Join your community council. Attend meetings. Run for office. Write your congressman.
DON'T COMPLAIN! DO SOMETHING!
---end lecture---

I'm reading a book right now, written by many authors on the same topic, and a definite cohesive theme is starting to emerge. Just about every author is raising objections, voicing complaints and otherwise being brassed off about the situation. Not a single one seems to have any constructive idea about how to fix things -- or if he does, he certainly isn't doing a good job of expressing that idea.
ReplyDeleteI think I need you to come provide a quick lecture to some people who are long on complaints and short on solutions.
